The 4 agreements

In the same perspective of sharing keys to feel better in everyday life, today I wanted to share with you the powerful book " The four agreements quotes " written by Miguel Ruiz.

In his book, he talk about four basics rules that everyone can easily apply in his life.

The first one is : " Be impeccable with your word".

Because we are our worst executioners. If you begin to be aware of how you're talking to yourself during the day, you'll see that you're not nice to yourself.

We are always thinking about all the bad things we did in the past or the good we didn't do.

We all blame ourselves and we steadily lower ourselves instead of seeing the positive things we have done in your life. So, start to treat yourself as you deserve, that means as you love yourself sincerely.

Stop mistreating yourself psychologically. For that it's necessary that you be careful about your thoughts and the way you talk to yourself.

The second agreement is : " Don't take anything personally ". It's really important because the most of time we are affected by the actions and words of others. For example, you have an appointment with a friend but he didn't come. You'll probably think that you did something wrong or that the problem is you. But it's not you, it's just that your friend had something more important than see you because he have his own perception of his life and it has nothing to do with you. So try to detach yourself things, that's the way you will suffer the least.

The third is : " Don't make assumption ". We are so good when it comes making assumptions and especially to make negatives ones. It's like that, most often we only imagine the worst can happen.

Actually it's not a bad to try to predict and anticipate what can happen to us. But we should be more realistic and less pessimistic. Moreover, we must believe more in ourselves.

Our beliefs aren't the reality, we can change them when we want because some beliefs limit us and these are the ones we need to learn how to detach ourselves to increase our fields of possibility.

Finally, the fourth agreement is : " Always do your best ". The important thing with this agreement is that every day and situations are different. That means you have to do your best with the resources you have now and we should not compare our performance with another day when we may have been in better shape or in better light. So now when you'll do anything, just try to do your best without bad thoughts that belittle or compare you to others.

We have all made agreements with ourselves, some of them help us to move forward and others have helped us in difficult times but they're now limiting. It's not easy, to change them but first of all we must be aware of them and begin replacing them with better ones. It only depends on us now because we are adult now and we must no longer live with these agreements that were transmitted to us unconsciously.
