5 Tips to stop an addiction

Hi everyone ! Today I want to share with you 5 tips to stop an addiction to anything ; cigarette, alcohol or food (etc,..). The most part of the time if we begin to smoke, drink or eat too much food is because we feel a lack or a discomfort in our life.

What to do to change ?

1. First of all, you must analyze the actions you every day and ask yourself if this actions are good or bad for your health, your well-being and your mind. Become aware of your addictions, stop lying to yourself and stop looking for the immediate pleasures. Try to think of the long term, you'll see in few months/ years how you feel great !

2. Ok, now you're aware of what is destroying you step by step. I know that there is 2 kind of persons. In one hand there are those who can stop overnight and they will no start again. And in the other hand, there are those (like me) for whom it's impossible.

For them, they have to reduce their consumption. For example, if you smoke 1 pack of cigarettes per day, try to smoke only half of a pack. When you're ready, reduce to 5 per day and do that to 0. Find the amount that is not too difficult for you and set you reduction targets on specific dates (same principle for food and alcohol).

3. Observe the situations, the context in which you have this bad habits.

What are you feeling ? What is the triggering element ? Which people are influencing you ?

Find everything that can be related to this action. Then, try to avoid these situations.

If you know that you always want to smoke and drink when you go out with friends, you must go out less often (it's obvious but there are lot of situations you could avoid by having conscious that it pulls you down)

4. If you can, begin to stop and change your bad habits with a friend or a member of your family.

It's much easier for many because when it becomes harder, you can motivate both of you.

Talk about your project of stop smoking or eating junk food around you and find allies who'll can support you.

5. Maybe sometimes you'll fail and start again. It can happens, we are only humans and we can't be perfect. So my last advise is : please don't be too harsh with yourself.

Just understand why you failed this time and try again. Do your best it's all.

It's already hard to stop an addiction you must not make it even harder by being too hard with yourself. This can only make you lose your goal of seeing and give up. DON'T GIVE UP !
